Troubleshooting
Most problems come from the file or from a setting, and have a quick fix. If yours is not here, tell me about it.
Uploading
- "Is not a GPX file". You may have a FIT or TCX file. See how to export a GPX file.
- "Could not read". The file may be damaged, or may not really be a GPX file. Export it from your app again.
- "Has no route in it". The file may hold only saved places. Export the track or route.
- Too large. Each file can be up to 25 MB, with up to 50 files. Try a simplified export.
The map
- A straight line across the map. Your recording may have a gap. Turn off "Join tracks in order" or "Join end to start" if they added it.
- The route covers too much ground. Remove a file, or split the route into sections.
Terrain
- Asked for a key. You chose a source that needs a free OpenTopography key. Choose AWS Terrain Tiles instead, which needs none.
- No terrain data here. Some sources stop at 60° north. Try another source.
- Summit looks low. See terrain data and accuracy.
The model
- The route is too thin to print. Increase Route width, or reduce the Fit gap.
- The route will not go into the groove. Raise the Fit gap and print the route again. Do not scale either file in your slicer.
- The route is loose. Lower the Fit gap, or use a little glue.
- The land looks flat. Raise the Height scale.
- The model does not fit your printer. Lower the Model size, and download again.
Downloading
- The model has gone. Models are deleted after 2 hours, and routes 6 hours after you last used them, to protect your privacy. They also go when the site restarts. Upload your file again. A saved settings file brings your settings back in one click.
- The download will not start. Wait a moment and try again, as only a few can run at once.
